Vision Correction Treatments
Beyond glasses or contacts, other vision correction treatments that may be recommended are:
Ortho-K or Corneal Shaping
Orthokeratology, often referred to as Ortho-K, can correct nearsightedness and mild astigmatism by gently reshaping the cornea with special contact lenses worn only while sleeping in order to temporarily achieve clear vision during waking hours without contact lenses or eyeglasses.
LASIK
LASIK stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. It is a surgical procedure involving a laser reshaping the cornea that can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism. LASIK is very common, popular and safe, but not necessarily the right treatment for everyone.
For those who are a good candidate for laser eye surgery Dr. William F. Beegle Optometry offers LASIK consultation and surgery co-management.
Low Vision Therapy
Low vision is partial vision loss that eyeglasses, contacts, medications or surgery can not correct. It can occur due to glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal degenerative diseases, and other causes.
Low vision therapy usually involves visual aids that can assist and maximize limited vision in order to help patients read, write, work and engage in their hobbies.
Dr. William F. Beegle Optometry has the experience and equipment to provide treatment, consultation and referrals for vision correction and laser eye surgeries (LASIK).
